Our Story

In 1963, R.M. Chipman returned to Winnipeg with his family and a vision to serve the city’s growing west side. He opened Birchwood Motors on Portage and Moray with a fleet of 60 vehicles and a focus on community-first service.

Today, Birchwood has grown into Manitoba’s largest automotive group with 24 dealerships and nearly 1,100 team members. Our commitment to service, team growth, and community continues to guide us. We are proud of our community and our history in it, and we look forward to continuing to grow while remaining steadfast in our values as a business that experience is everything.
