MPI EV Rebate Program Explained: Eligibility, Savings, and How to Apply
What is it?
MPI launched a new EV rebate program in July 2024 to help Manitobans offset the cost of going electric. Unlike past federal programs, this rebate is province-specific and available to eligible Manitoba drivers.
How much can you save?
- New EVs: Up to $4,000
- Used EVs: Up to $2,500
These amounts are credited to your MPI account and can be used to reduce your vehicle insurance premiums—or collected as a rebate, depending on your coverage setup.
Which vehicles qualify?
- Only fully electric vehicles (not hybrids or plug-in hybrids)
- Vehicle must be registered in Manitoba
- Must be under $70,000 MSRP
Who’s eligible?
- Individual or business customers with an active MPI policy
- Vehicle must be new or used (first time registered in Manitoba)
- You must apply within 60 days of registering the vehicle
